Dr. Catherine Reiss

Dr. Reiss received her Bachelor of Science degree in 2001 and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2006, both from Cornell University. She completed an internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at the University of Georgia in 2007, followed by a specialty internship in Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care at Cornell University in 2008.

In addition to focusing on emergency and critical care work, Dr. Reiss has devoted many years to animal welfare, working with spay/neuter organizations and wildlife rehabilitation projects. Dr. Reiss moved to Virginia in 2009 to become part of the VVERC team and was the Medical Director from 2010-2013.

She lives with her husband (also a veterinarian) and two wonderful children in Northern Virginia. Besides the two-legged kids, the household also includes dogs, cats, fish, chickens, horses, donkeys, goats, mini pigs, and bees! Affectionally called the funny farm, much of her time is spent enjoying these critters. Her other interests include hiking, cooking, and travel (especially to National Parks and Disney World!).
